Hello. My name is Emily, and in seven years I will be an alcoholic. Well not really considering I may be there already. J/K; although I do love vodka (Stoli) amongst other alcoholic beverages. Seriously, my name really is Emily, but there are a plethora of names by which I go. Emily. Ava. Supe. Miss Supe. The Supe. Nels. Emmo. I think that is pretty much all of them. Beside that, I love sports. Pittsburgh Peguins. Pittsburgh Steelers. Pittsburgh Pirates. Yes, that means I would watch a Pens game over a Steeler game any day. I am a huge gymnastics fan, considering it was part of my life for 20 years. Did I mention I play dek hockey? If not, I do. I love the fall.shoes.dresses.crosswrod puzzles.traveling.reading. My favorite book is 'Catcher in the Rye.' I hate phonies; get away from me, thanks. I also hate people in my personal space, even my boyfriend, don't worry it is not just you. I love nerds.chocolate covered gummi bears. I think that is all you need to know at the moment. O yeah, one more thing; I do not trust people who do not drink.

Yinzers and Picksburgh Stiller Fans, check it out!

What is done, is done. You can't change what you say after you say it (or should I say tweet it).  I know that was John Madden-ish statement, but it is nothing short of the truth.

The past few days 'yinzers' have been talking about Pittsburgh Steeler Rashard Mendenhall's comments on bin Laden's death.  If you have not heard or seen these tweets, please get your head out of your ass and read below:

  • "What kind of person celebrates death?" he wrote. "It's amazing how people can HATE a man they have never even heard speak. We've only heard one side..."
  • "We'll never know what really happened. I just have a hard time believing a plane could take a skyscraper down demolition style"
Yes, these tweets are inappropriate not to mention inaccurate, but I am not here to judge his comments.  I am here to judge his lack of knowledge and/or understanding of today's social/media outlets, mainly Twitter.  When are athletes and/or celebs going to realize, OTHER PEOPLE CAN READ WHAT YOU WRITE ON YOUR TWITTER ACCOUNT, AND YOU WILL SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES?  Yes, I know that is a John Madden-type statement as well, but grasping this concept is apparently a difficult task.  How many times have we seen an athlete in hot water because of Twitter?   Too many to count.  When will they learn their lesson?
Hopefully Rashard learned his lesson over the last few days.  If not,  maybe just maybe he can learn from a teammate.  No, not a veteran like James Farrior. No, not a QB hotshot like Ben Roethlisberger, but a rookie.  A rookie named Baron Batch.  A rookie who understands the use of social/media outlets. If you are thinking I am crazy, then CLICK HERE and read his blog. Granted, Baron has not even played a single down in the NFL.  I understand that. With the attention he will receive, especially being a Pittsburgh Steeler, his attitude may change, but I doubt it.  I am willing to bet he continues to use his blog as a positive outlet to gain positive attention. So Rashard, pay attention to your fellow teammate and learn from him.
