Hello. My name is Emily, and in seven years I will be an alcoholic. Well not really considering I may be there already. J/K; although I do love vodka (Stoli) amongst other alcoholic beverages. Seriously, my name really is Emily, but there are a plethora of names by which I go. Emily. Ava. Supe. Miss Supe. The Supe. Nels. Emmo. I think that is pretty much all of them. Beside that, I love sports. Pittsburgh Peguins. Pittsburgh Steelers. Pittsburgh Pirates. Yes, that means I would watch a Pens game over a Steeler game any day. I am a huge gymnastics fan, considering it was part of my life for 20 years. Did I mention I play dek hockey? If not, I do. I love the fall.shoes.dresses.crosswrod puzzles.traveling.reading. My favorite book is 'Catcher in the Rye.' I hate phonies; get away from me, thanks. I also hate people in my personal space, even my boyfriend, don't worry it is not just you. I love nerds.chocolate covered gummi bears. I think that is all you need to know at the moment. O yeah, one more thing; I do not trust people who do not drink.

So I wrote this post a few years back in a previous blog. Last night someone, you know who you are made me think of it b/c we were watching 'The Bachelor', o lord, what hot messes these people are! Not only the girls, but the bachelor himself. Considering this is his second go around being the bachelor, he is clueless. Anyway, with some new additions, here it is. I believe in love. Doesn't everybody? Although I do believe in love, I have a HUGE problem with it. People throw LOVE around so loosely. I would like to think that these people are just trying to join the "I'm in love club." Sure, I have said I have been in love. Was it really? If it was love, then why didn't it work out? Clearly, there was something wrong in THAT relationship. I hear friends of mine say that they were in love several times. Really? Then why didn't it work out? Love is supposed to be two people, the best of friends, lovers. Two people that will do anything for one another. Two people that will go out of their way to please the other. Two people that ultimately will do anything to be with that person, and spend their lives together. So why am I, along with many others claiming to have been in love once or several times? I don't get it. If BOTH love bugs were really in LOVE wouldn't everything work out fine and dandy? Maybe all this is just a brainwashing affect of movies. O don't get me started on movies. I really do not like movies, never have. You will rarely catch me in a theater if you do , say hi and move along. Thanks. Anyway, the problem I have with movies is that they are FAKE! Yes, I know that is a "John Madden' type statement, but it nonetheless true. People translate movies into real life-especially the sappy, fairy tale, romantic comedies. Really people(girls)? I used to feed into those as well. Every girl wants the fairy tale, but I have come to realize, this is NOT real life! People(girls) need to get their heads out of their asses, and realize that the image above does not happen. These sappy romantic comedies is what causes the "I'm in love club' syndrome. Stop it, thanks.

Boys and Girls

Here is something to ponder. I mean there are a lot of things to ponder like the Egyptian Pyramids, but this issue is still ponder-able.
Have you ever noticed that girls say that they do not get along with other girls? Or they say, I just like to hang out with a lot of guys. Have you heard and read this statement before: "I love to hang out with my friends. I have several close girls that are friends, but I tend to go out with more guys than girls. Girls cause too much drama and guys are just chill, and have more fun." With that said, think about it. How many times have you heard a girl say that?
This theory or whatever category you would like to put this in is just plain stupid. I will admit, I have said to people that I hang out with guys moreso than girls, but do you know why? Because THESE girls don't want to be friends! That's why. Sure, if a girl wants to be friends with me, then I am game. But at the same time if ya'll are going to have the other attitude, 'eff off.
I have come to the conclusion that these gals with this I-like-boys-better-than-girls attitude have their sexes confused. Honestly, I find that boys are more dramatic than girls, at least the ones with whom I have asscoiated. But that may be just me, b/c I tend NOT to be dramatic. It is usually the guys in my life that are dramatic. I have been told several times that I have a guy's perspective on things, maybe this is why I do get along with girls. HMMM. Something to ponder..........

Yada yada yada.....

Holy geez, it has been awhile since the last post. Maybe it was because of the holidays, but more likely it was my apparent inability to put a stream of logical thoughts together, which by the way, the streak is still in tact. I have no rhyme or reason for this post, just a few post-holiday thoughts plus some.

  • This is the time of year when people are sick, coughing, sniffling, and of course a runny nose. Yuck. What makes it worse is when people blow their nose, and look at what is in the tissue after they blow. Really? I know we have all done it, and most likely we do not even think about it, but next time someone blows watch.....
  • Have you ever been watching a movie, TV or anything funny for that matter, and the person with whom you are watching looks at you everytime something funny happens? Why do people do this?
  • What is the proper etiquette in Starbucks when two people are walking in at the same time, and person 1 opens the door for person 2, person 2 is now ahead of person 1 in line? Does person 2 order their drink first, or do you let person 1 back in front of you to order first? This always baffles me, I never know what is right, but I have always let person 1 back in front after, usually a he, opens the door for me.

What a weekend; nothing dramatic, just an overall fun and exciting weekend. Friday night, my nemisis took me to The Naked Grape, a wine bar/restaurant. I would definitely recommend it to anyone in the area. It is quiet, quiant, and with good company a great place. Unfortunately, Saturday morning I had to wake up early to get to work, but it started off on a good note. My nemisis woke up with me, even though he did not have to be awake yet, and made me waffles! Not only did he do that, he even packed me a lunch for later in the day because I was driving to Cleveland. What a saint; I was very appreciative of this because once again it is nothing to which I am accustomed. I got to work just in time to deal with the gentleman in a recent blog, and then made my way to Cleveland with the lunch which my nemisis made for me. My best friend lives in 'The Mistake on the Lake' with her husband and two year-old daughter, Evy. What a treat Evy is; she is finally learning to talk(even though it is half Greek and half English) and acting like a real human being! As Christmas is coming shortly, of course she is excited because 'Canta Cause' is coming to visit as is Baby Jesus apparently. Christmas is just different when there are kids around the house. It seems so much more festive. Anyway, Saturday night was great. We went to Little Italy, a three-block street filled with Italian restaurants and shops. As soon as you make your way on the street, even in the car, you can smell all of the tasty food! Dinner was nonetheless great; Evy even ate Calamari. Haha. Sunday we woke up went to breakfast ran some errands, and it was back to the 'Burgh for this girl. Sunday was great as well, minus the Steelers' loss to the Jets. I was surrounded by great food and great people. It was an all together relaxing weekend. Woop Woop.

The apple doesn't fall from the tree

A litte kindness goes a long way. Isn't that the truth? How many times have we heard this, but do not practice kindness? Granted, we all have our moments, and maybe the story below is this guy's moment, but I am 90 percent sure that this wasn't his first time around the block. For those of you that know, I do quality assurance work for FedEx. Obviously, the holiday season is the busiest of time of year where we process 150,000 plus packages a day. Like anything there are always pros and cons. Well, you can see the con in this situation. Yes, we process huge amounts of product, BUT yes, product is lost and product can be damaged. What can you do? Nothing, nobody, not any company any facility is perfect. NOBODY. All one can do is take responsibility for the mistake and correct it. Well, I received a call this morning from a consumer who ordered his kids' Christmas presents from Kohl's online a week before Christmas. I understand the entire phenomenon of online purchasing, it does create job security for me , but to order your kids' Christmas presents online, really? May be I am wrong, but if I had little kids I would 100% make sure I had their presents wrapped and ready to go at least a week before Christmas. Anyway, this gentleman, or lack thereof gentleman, called this morning complaining he did not receive his order. As I started to ask questions he began screaming at me. Needless to say, he was not very happy FedEx lost his purchase; I could not get a word in to even begin to help him because of his antics. As I tried to explain the situation and help him he says, "I hope your Christmas is as sucky as mine." My response, "That's mature." Really? Did this guy really say that to me, and then end the conversation with "God Bless you." Really? People never cease to amaze me. People do not realize anger and hostility are not going to get you far in life. Guess what? If this gentleman kindly explained his situation in a mature way to me, I certainly would have went out of my way to help him. I do not have patience for his inability to be kind. Now, not only does he not have his order, he also is out his money, and to top it off he is not getting his order re-shipped. This is all could have resolved IF he was kind. I can only hope that this gentleman come to his senses for his kids' sake. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, unless it is on a hill.

"Between my legs and breathing, fuck me." Woa, did not see that one coming! I actually txted this to my nemisis as I was getting a quick workout, a workout that was clearly difficult, on the treadmill. Did you think I meant something else? I am sure I could have worded it differently, if I had realized what I actually wrote. It was not until he told me to re-read the message did I realize. See he is the one with his mind in the gutter! Not me; although I guess I did not have to post it. Anyway, lately I have been lacking ideas, hence no posts since last week. As of today, I still do not have that much to say, but here are a few thoughts as I was running yesterday:
  • Whenever I see Nancy Grace on her new show, Swift Justice, all that comes to mind is Natalie Holloway. Not sure why Nancy Grace does that to me, but I change the channel.
  • People need to stop talking about Tommy Terrific, frankly I am sick of the talk, and sick of him. He is a great QB, but is not that terrific. Get over it.
  • I do not completely understand why people send Christmas cards. We received a handful in the mail yesterday, and ultimately where are these going to end up? I will not say, but we all know where. I suppose it is the thought that counts, and one day maybe I will send some.
  • I really need to start Christmas shopping, considering I only have a week left. Yikes.

I think that is it for now, if you anything else comes to me you will be the first to know.

Giving and Receiving

Is it better to give or receive? No, I am not talking about THAT! Get your mind out of the gutter, once again! There is a theme to MissSupe's blog, notice it? Why do people feel the need to receive in order to give? This is not shocking, but selfish nonetheless. If you have read a previous post of mine, you will note that I depise selfish people, doesn't everybody? Here is a scenario that just irks me, a story that brings out the selfishness and stupidity of today's world. At work we have an annual bake sale where the profit goes to the United Way. Hypothetically, I am going to make cookies for this bake sale. I go to the grocery store, buy items, and ultimately spend, let's say $20. I spend two hours of my free time, baking, which I hate. So now, I am in the hole $20 and out of two hours. Great. My cookies are finally made, and I take them to work. These 20 cookies are sold at $1 per cookie. Does anyone see where I am going with this? So $20 goes to the United Way. Um-HELLO! Does anybody see this as stupid besides me? Why not just donate $20 to United Way and save myself two hours. I explained to one of my co-workers that this is recycling money and wasting time. His response was, "people don't want to donate unless they receive something in return." Are we that selfish? I was always taught it is better to give rather than receive.
