so, the wheels continue to spin. they are always spinning. is this good or bad that i am always thinking? i am not sure. well, last night the wheels were in overdrive. it was a relaxing evening, but nonetheless spin.spin.spin. a soccer coach of mine back in the day told me, ‘run when you must, rest when you can, but always be thinking.’ makes sense even in real life, don’t you think? moving forward, do you know how many thoughts every person has every day? probably not. 60,000! can you believe it? i came across this stat when read tried to read ‘The Secret’. this stat was the only good thing that came out of that book. what 60,000 thoughts go through your head in a day? right now, I am thinking about the 60,000 thoughts that could be possibly going thought my head everyday. thinking about thinking, this has become a new low. i need to stop getting sidetracked.
last night, the thinking cap was on, and on tight. i went to the gym, got on the elliptical only to find that my Ipod went kaput! as nemesis said, ‘it will give you more time to think.’ well that is just great. like that is what i needed at the moment. i go to the gym to get thoughts out of my head, and now they are right back in there, overdrive and all.
as I was on the elliptical, while wathcing TV, I started thinking…….
khole and lamar’ these people can’t be serious? the whole show, well the kardashian family is insane, yes, insane! lamar odom married into this nonsense, wow. A uri grad? Nonsense. i need to stop watching this shitshow, and find something else. there is nothing on tv, damnit. Ugh,how bored I am. i can’t wait to be done with this workout, this chick behind me is staring at my ass. this is umcomfortable. i hate when people stand back there and wait, annoying. maybe i should have brought a book so i could read while working out, then i won’t be thinking about the girl behind me staring at my ass. i need a new book. I finished ‘the perks of being a wallflower.’ for all the hype that book created, was not impressed. i need a new book. maybe i will go to barnes and noble after this workout, find something worth reading. something that will make me think, even more, I suppose. great.
i got of the elliptical, girl still staring at my ass, and cleaned the machine. off to Barnes and Noble I went. i had a book in mind. that book scared me though. i am not ready for that yet. so, i wandered. i wandered through the new releases and best-sellers. nothing. so then i walked over to the newest releases in paperback. i found it. the cover looked familiar, but I knew i never read the book. weird. as i looked at the book, i realized i read another book, ‘the average american male; by this author, chad kultgen. hysterical. so i picked up, ‘men, women, and children’, and wandered even more. even though i already picked out my book, it is still fun to wander and see what other ‘nonsense’ is out there.
i wandered to the mystery section. nothing. then over to the cooking section. haha yeah right. finally, i made my way to the history section. i would like to think i am a history buff, but eh, not like those crazy ones. just a milder version i suppose.
i know you are not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but i did. this book jumped out at me. it had red swirls, yellow swirls, just a clusterfuck, and i loved it. the title is’1421.’ i read the opening chapter. very interesting. pretty much, this author is saying that before columbus discovered the New World, the Chinese did 71 years earlier in 1421, hence the title of the book. i guess i didn’t have to tell you that. you aren't idiots.
as I read the opening chapter, i started thinking…….
this guy can’t be serious? if this is all true, his version of these events in 1421, then everything i ever learned was a lie! even he said it in his writing. so all these youngsters go to school. they go to school and learn about Columbus and his amazing discovery, and the European explorers, and it was all a lie. this is bs. what else is a lie? there has to be more, right? as kids in school, we are all fed this information, we do not know what is what, we just go with it. teachers teach us these things, but where do the teachers learn? from other teachers? great. all these teachers get their information from where? It magically appears in these textbooks? where do these textbooks come from?who puts information in these textbooks? authors? who determines what information authors put into these textbooks? government? media? idk, these are all probably stupid questions, but really think about it… it is all a lie, well maybe. maybe some of it? we trust these people that we do not even know, but yet can’t trust our own family and friends. this is weird. i need to stop thinking.
i shut the book after the opening chapter, and decided to just go home with ‘men, women, and children.’ i will most likely go back and grab ‘1421’ after i am finished with this new book.
i finally arrive at 2405, and start to read ‘men, women, and children.’ for as explicit as it is, all of it is so true. you’ll have to read it. anway, i get to this part in the book where one of the characters watches the documentary, ‘Manufacturing Consent.’ until today, i had no idea this was a real thing. it is. here is the excerpt from 'men, women, and children' with the character's thoughts about 'Manufacturing Consent':
"......as a result I began to feel that there wasn't really a point to anything, that free will was an illusion, and that the things most people invested time and energy in were systems of control designed by those who sought to manipulate the general population."
after reading that portion I started thinking........
wow, that is so true. maybe free will is an illusion. people feed us information. on TV, in the news, at school, at work, and we make decisions based on this information. but did we really make the decision, or did somebody else 'force' us into this decision. all of these outlets, school, work, news, are controlled environments, where people can decide to tell you something, or not tell you something. it is what people want us to know or HAVE to let us know. so all this freedom, isn't really freedom, it is all an illusion. so in the case of '1421', is it true? is that all a lie too? the point is, nothing really matters b/c nothing is really real? i know i have had this conversation with nemesis, well about the bible and stuff. how can you believe something written back thousands of years ago? maybe that is all a lie. they just made all these scriptures up, we don't really know. aliens could have wrote that, shit we don't know. ugh, it just goes in circles. nothing is real. nothing really matters. everyone is just here. so at work, is it going to be the end of the world if someone doesn't receive a package? nope. after a hockey game, does it matter that we won or lost? nope. the wheels need to stop spinning, but i guess that doesn't really matter because what is the point? so, the wheels continue to spin.
