Hello. My name is Emily, and in seven years I will be an alcoholic. Well not really considering I may be there already. J/K; although I do love vodka (Stoli) amongst other alcoholic beverages. Seriously, my name really is Emily, but there are a plethora of names by which I go. Emily. Ava. Supe. Miss Supe. The Supe. Nels. Emmo. I think that is pretty much all of them. Beside that, I love sports. Pittsburgh Peguins. Pittsburgh Steelers. Pittsburgh Pirates. Yes, that means I would watch a Pens game over a Steeler game any day. I am a huge gymnastics fan, considering it was part of my life for 20 years. Did I mention I play dek hockey? If not, I do. I love the fall.shoes.dresses.crosswrod puzzles.traveling.reading. My favorite book is 'Catcher in the Rye.' I hate phonies; get away from me, thanks. I also hate people in my personal space, even my boyfriend, don't worry it is not just you. I love nerds.chocolate covered gummi bears. I think that is all you need to know at the moment. O yeah, one more thing; I do not trust people who do not drink.

Night with Nemisis: Original

so last night, i went to the Bucco game with Nemisis, of course.  check out the awesome seats! nemisis works with someone who has these season tix.  we are touching the dugout, amazing!   definitely would not mind using those again  :)

anyway, game was great, well minus the fact that we spent our life savings on blue moon(note even joking), and the loss i suppose.  i am not sure i have been to a game recently when they have won :(  o well, better luck next time.

after the game, we wandered over to the 'tilted kilt.'  love it there. i went to one out in denver, co about a year ago, it was so much fun. apparently, i like the half-naked chicks. anywho, totally glad they decided to open one in the 'burgh!  anyway, had some potato skins, yum, and a beer of course, another yum.

all and all another great night with nemisis.

You don’t have to read this post. It is for my benefit, not yours, but you are more than welcome to read if you would like.

So I decided I should set running goals (too bad I don’t do this more often). No, I am not logging my miles or trying to be a speedster and run a five-minute mile, I don’t think so. That s*** is for the birds, or the crazy runners in um, Kenya. Instead I am setting goals by streets.

Minton Drive
Broadhill Farms Road
Barnes Drive
Farm View Drive
Emma Lane
Meadow Vue Drive
Shafer Vue Drive

Only three more to go! Once I can run the crossed out streets consistently (not walking and/or stopping), I will add another street to my run.

The Supe, c. 1995.

Some things never change; one plus one equals two, my love of vodka, the Pirates will have a losing season, and lastly the fact that I still think as if I were 12-years-old.

After my 11-minute run yesterday (ugh, don’t even ask), I decided to do some abs, which by the way are sore. As I was on the floor, I noticed this box underneath my bed. Until last night, I did not realize it was there. Curious, I pulled out the box to find old memorabilia. Among the memorabilia was my HS diploma, URI media guides, along with some other importance pieces, but most importantly I found a paper I wrote in middle school. It wasn’t as much a paper, but more of a questionnaire. Who knew the details of this project, but the questionnaire asked for name, nicknames, hometown, and hobbies-you know the drill, simple stuff. As I kept reading my answers, the more complicated stuff; it became clear to me that at 28-years-old, I have not changed since the age of 12. Should I be concerned? Probably.

For some reason, I am not concerned at all. Surprisingly, the Supe at 12-years-old was a smart cookie, and even back then, quirky. Here are a few excerpts.

The Supe, c. 1995.

I just can’t resist: playing with my cats and my bird. Still true.

My idea of a perfect day: going to the beach in Florida with my friends. Still true.

Nobody knows: I would have two brothers and a sister but they died when they were born. Not sure how this wouldn’t be true.

A Favorite Childhood Memory: crying and getting scared by Captain Hook at Disney World. What child thinks of this as a favorite memory? Me, apparently.

Favorite Food: potato skins, salad, candy. Still true.

My goal in life is to: go to college with a full gymnastics scholarship and then get a good job. Well, half of that is true. The other half is a work in progress, also a discussion for another blog post. Actually the entire answer is another blog post.

If I could spend 10 minutes with anyone it would be: my grandfather who I never met. Still very true.

The quality I most admire in people: being themselves and not trying to be like anyone else. If you know me in any way, shape or form, I think this pretty much sums me up in a nutshell.

The thing I’m better at than anyone else: not getting embarrassed easily and being very stubborn. Once again, really? Am I still 12?

My philosophy in life is: just go with the flow, whatever happens happens. This is the best one, also probably a great discussion for another blog post.

Like I said, this probably should concern me, but it doesn’t. It doesn’t because this is me, it always has been me, and probably will always be me. Some things never change, like the Supe.

S&S

Short and sweet, that's how  I like it.
Well at least this post will be short and sweet.  I like other things short and sweet too.

I love that 'people', well a certain person, with a bachelor's degree, master's degree, AND a doctorate degree say things like 'more healthier.'  Really?  And you want me to call you Dr.?  I don't think so.  Learn to speak the English language, then get back to me.  Thanks.

The Demise of America

I was just thinking……..

I have wanted write this post(s) for awhile now, but have not gotten around to it.

So here it is. Before you get your panties in a wad, THERE ARE SO-CALLED GLITCHES, I am not denying that. So, take this idea or leave it, but before you leave it; think about it.

2011. United States of America. Who hasn’t heard somebody, a friend, a family member, a co-worker, SOMEBODY say America just isn’t the same as it was ‘back in the day?’ We have all heard it, probably have even said it. Who is to blame for this so-called chaos? Some people blame the government. Some people blame the media. Some people blame technology. I blame WOMEN. Yes, WOMEN! These gung-ho women in the workforce need to calm themselves, and really think about what they are doing to our country.

1950. United States of America. The 1950’s is what people consider ‘back in the day?’ Correct? Think ‘Leave it to Beaver’ and/or ‘I Love Lucy’ and the roles of both men and women.

1950

Men: Go to work. Make money. Be the breadwinner for the family to live comfortably.

Women: Stay at home. Take care of household. Take care of kids. Look pretty.

This is accurate, correct?

2011

Men: Go to work. Make money. Be the breadwinner for the family to live comfortably.

Women: Go to work. Make money. Be the breadwinner for the family to live comfortably.

This is accurate, correct?

The difference between these scenarios is clearly the household and the children are forgotten about in 2011. In which case, it would only make sense for chaos to arise.

This is just the beginning! In future posts you will find out how women in the workforce cause cancer, obesity in adults and children, dysfunctional kids, affairs/divorce, greed, environmental issues, and grey hair!

First up: Cancer.
